Prince Claus Conservatoire: New York comes to Groningen
A Unique Jazz Program
The Jazz Program New York comes to Groningen of the Prince Claus Conservatoire is like no other jazz school. Students get to learn the values of tradition and exploration that are associated with musicians on the New York Jazz scene.
In addition to ongoing weekly lessons from a top class Dutch faculty, each student receives an education program from our weekly visiting New York jazz faculty featuring Joris Teepe (bass and head of the jazz department), Don Braden (sax), Mark Gross (sax), Ralph Peterson (drums), Dena DeRose (vocals), David Berkman (piano), Alex Sipiagin (trumpet) and Freddie Bryant (guitar).
Prince Claus Conservatoire is part of the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen.
Programmes offered are Jazz-Classical Music-Conducting-Composition, Music and Studio Productions- Classroom Education. For the third time in succession the Prince Claus Conservatoire has been voted the best conservatory in the Netherlands. Groningen is in the north of the Netherlands and well known for it’s vibrant character; half of the population is under the age of 35 due to two universities, University of Groningen and the Hanze University of Applied Sciences.
