Jazzinty 2010 wrapped!


On Sunday, 22 August 2010, in the early morning hours the eleventh Jazzinty came to an end.

Workshop of the Jazz Week was attended by approximately sixty musicians from across Europe; also Asia and Africa also had its representative. This year the Masterclass was conducted by saxophonist Bill Evans. He presented his musical career with an emphasis on collaboration with Miles Davis and played with the participants in a combo band.

Festival nights were filled with concerts and jam sessions. The first three days were marked by Slovenian jazz scene: A.Si.Q, Marko Črnčec Trio and Jaka Kopač Jazzon Quintet. The latter performed the compositions which made it to the finals for the best jazz composition award-Jazzon. The first jury award went to the piece composed by Klemen Smolej titled The Music Stays. Jure Matic in Maja Čehovin received the second prize of the Jury and the Audience Award for their composition Etrta.

In the following three days excellent events took place at the Museum Gardens. Part of Soul - Tribute to Motown energized the audience with their exceptional performance. Bill Evans played together with the mentors of the workshop and proved his value in the world of jazz. The final night belonged to a marathon concert which was presented by the participants of the Academy who received a diploma proving their effort invested in the workshop. Just like every night of the jazz week, also the last one concluded with the jam session in the Atrium of the LokalPatriot Club. See you next year!
